Dear Readers,

Contents

We are celebrating 'World Ozone Day 2009' and 'Green Consumer Day 2009'. These days highlight the need to reduce, reuse and recycle resources. It is our duty to develop a framework for co - operative activities to protect the ozone layer.

In response to growing pressure on environmental pollution, a global view / outlook is needed to find new ways / technology to retain pollution free environment. Besides, there is concern about health hazards in humans due to environmental pollution. The persistence of organic pollutants in environment, also leads to biomagnification. The present issue highlights the antimicrobial potentiality of marine actinomycetes and the presence of organic pollutants in Indian breast milk as evidence of health hazards by means of environmental pollution.

We are happy to share our views with you and look forward to your suggestions and feedback (www.envismadrasuniv.org/send_feedback.php) on the articles published in the Newsletter.
